What ways do you use to communicate with parents?

Upon request I can provide a daily sheet informing parents of daily activities, food consumption, bathroom progress, and other information. I give a verbal run down of how our day was, menu is posted so that you know what was for lunch. I can email a daily sheet of activities upon request.

How will discipline be handled while my child is in your care?

Discipline will be handled on a case by case basis. However no physical punishment will be used even if the parent requests it. I will use redirection, natural-consequence, and time out if absolutely necessary.

What is your sick child policy?

I will call you if your child has a fever, is vomiting, or has diarrhea. Low grade fevers may be caused by teething and are not necessarily cause for a child to be sent home. Children will need to go at least 24 hours without a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting before coming back.

Do you charge extra if I'm late picking up my child?

I expect parents to pick up children before closing time, however I do understand that sometimes due to traffic or bad weather conditions being late can happen. I normally do not charge if I receive a phone call keeping me updated on your situation and letting me know you are on your way. If I have repeat late pick ups I give a warning that I will start to charge you if you continue to be late.

What are your safety/security policies?

My home is childproof with safety latches on all cabinets, electrical outlets have childproof covers, I have baby gates installed in all necessary places. We have an active home alarm system. My home is clean, some days you may find dishes in the sink but that is because I give the children attention all day and the dishes can wait. Toys are cleaned weekly, Blankets used for nap time are washed every weekend unless they need washed before then. I encourage children to wash their hands after bathroom visits, and before meals. I will only release children to you or a family member that you have introduced to me and with prior knowledge of pick up changes, I may require them to show me their drivers license or ID.

Do you have a written contract?

I do have a financial agreement form that I ask each family to fill out and return before care or day care starts. I feel it is important to have something on paper to protect both parties.

Do you provide structured care?

I feel that following a daily schedule as best as we can is sufficient. I also feel that kids are kids for only a short while before they go off to school and have to sit at a desk all day, with that said kids in my care are free to play during free play with whatever toys they choose. But that does not mean that we don't have times that the children are read to, we also have a variety of other activities we do during the day. They are not just sitting in front of a t.v.

My goals as a provider are to:

Keep children safe and well cared for during child care hours.
Provide fun and educational activities.
Encourage children to play, get along, and follow child care rules.
Teach children to respect each other, toys, and property.
Provide the children with a warm and loving experience in child care.
Instill a sense of belonging, responsibility, and security in children.
Help children explore their desire to learn and discover their own creativity.
For children to feel like they have a second home, where they are loved and are part of an extended family

*Note this is only a general guideline of your child's daily activities; our schedule may change due to infant care, children's wishes, special activities, school schedules due to early dismissal's or no school days ect.. Because this is a home daycare our schedule is flexibleAbout our days:I have a large playroom with toys for all ages. I provide a.m. snack, hot lunches on most days, some days we have sandwiches, & afternoon snack as well. We have our fruits and veggies on most days and we always have milk with our lunch. I will try to post a weekly lunch menu on our bulletin board.We do go outside to play weather permitting and if every child has the appropriate clothing for the weather. We have quiet time everyday, I don't force children to fall asleep they just have to be quiet while watching a movie just in case their friends are sleepy. Smaller children do nap everyday and this is why pre-school age children have to have quiet time.
